Providing Assurance and Confidence for Volunteer
Boards and Staff
INPAC :A Comprehensive Review, An Independent Assessment, A Confidential
Report on the Findings
Introduction
The mission of Association Management Consultants Inc. (AMC) is
to help volunteers and staff in not-for-profit and public sector organizations (NPO)
govern and manage effectively. To help achieve that mission, AMC
has developed a program to assist organizations strengthen their
governance and management capabilities. It is a specialized organizational
review program called INPAC - Improvement in Not-for-profit Practices
And Controls.
About the INPAC Program
INPAC is an organizational review and program evaluation tool that is specifically
designed for not-for-profit and public sector organizations. The
Program examines all vital areas of NPO governance and management
including planning, budgeting, financial management and control, program delivery,
by-laws, committee and staff operations, performance monitoring
and risk management. It provides a comprehensive and independent
evaluation of the operations of the NPO and concludes with a confidential
report that is delivered to the volunteer board and/or senior staff.
The INPAC Program is an essential tool designed to help volunteers
and staff govern and manage their organization. INPAC is not intended
to provide a performance appraisal of either volunteers or staff.
It does, however, provide an independent assessment of the goverance
and management structures, systems, documentation and processes,
and identifies areas where the NPO is doing well and areas where
improvements can be made.
INPAC was designed by AMC based upon the firm's extensive work
providing consulting and management services to NPOs. Tom Abbott,
B.Comm., CGA, CAE, the firm's founder and the developer of the INPAC
Program has over twenty years of experience in the not-for-profit and
public sector and during his career has consulted with more than
350 local, provincial, national, international and US associations.
He has drawn upon that professional work to develop this exclusive
Program.
Benefits of the INPAC Program
When the INPAC review is completed and the recommendations
are implemented:
the volunteers will have a clear understanding of their role
in governing and the staff's role in managing
the organization will have an assessment of its program evaluation and delivery capabilities
the organization will save resources because of more effective
planning, budgeting, financial management and administration
the organization's stakeholders will be assured that the NPO
is operating well
as a result of more effective participation by the volunteers,
the demands on their time will be reduced.
Confidentiality
AMC does not release any information obtained as a consequence
of the INPAC review to any external group or body.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the INPAC review, the organization
must meet the following criteria:
be an incorporated not-for-profit or public sector organization
under state, provincial, territorial or federal legislation
have been in operation for at least twelve (12) months
have a functioning governing body.
Cost of the INPAC Program
Cost is always an important consideration for NPOs and we appreciate
the concern when it comes to spending "volunteer" dollars.
As a consequence, the Program has been developed to keep your expense
as low as possible while at the same time completing a comprehensive
review and evaluation. While the cost will vary somewhat depending
upon the size and complexity of the volunteer organization, the
fee generally ranges from $6,500 to $15,500. Travel costs are invoiced
separately.
